Mick Kennedy made over five-hundred first team appearances for ten League clubs, and was popular wherever he went, most notably at Portsmouth. He developed a reputation for being one of the game’s hardest players and at times courted controversy. But as team mates and supporters alike will testify, this side of his game overshadowed the fact that he was a decent footballer, good enough to earn international recognition. Learning much from his time in the game, upon retirement Mick put this to good effect when he took up coaching following his move to Kilmaley, County Clare, a place he called home. This colourful and entertaining biography tells the full story of Mick’s career, encapsulating the highs and the lows, the scraps and the scrapes, with anecdotes from those who knew him best or watched him from the terraces. It serves to act as a lasting tribute to a much-loved person and footballer who passed away in February 2019.
